Changes to Walmart's Savings Catcher App!

This is an out of the norm post, but I thought it would be helpful.

So yesterday I got an email from Walmart regarding Savings Catcher. I am sure those of you that are signed up for Savings Catcher got the email as well. It stated that changes were made to the terms of the app. It says,

"Dear Customer,

Thank you for using Savings Catcher. We wanted to share with you an update on some changes to the program. Beginning February 14, 2015, we are removing some departments consisting mostly of items that do not have a like for like match at other retailers, such as produce and bakery items. Additionally, we are limiting our comparisons to offers of other mass market retailers, grocery and dollar stores, removing comparisons with drug stores.

Thanks again for using Savings Catcher and shopping with us. We are dedicated to providing customers like you with Everyday Low Prices. It's a mission we're proud of and we'll continue to work hard to deliver for you."

So no more "like matching" for fresh foods, meats, and bakery items. And no more matching at drug stores. Well how does this affect us here in Rexburg? Well, considering our Walmart does not offer produce, bakery, and a meat department, that part does not affect us really at the moment. At least from my understanding. When we eventually get a bigger Walmart then it will put a damper on things. As for the drugstores, no more catching lower prices from Walgreens. You can still price match using ads, but that is the only way you will get a lower price at Walmart when getting a lower price from Walgreens.

I am surprised that these changes were made to the app so soon after launching it nationwide. Although it doesn't have a huge impact for us here in Rexburg, I'm sure it is a major inconvenience for those elsewhere.

Don't forget to follow me on Instagram, +1 it on Google, like my Facebook page (, pin on Pinterest, and follow my blog!

Questions for YOU!
What do you think about the changes made to the app? How do you think this will effect your shopping trips?
