Shopping for your baby

The meaning of thrifty: (of a person or their behavior) using money and other resources carefully and not wastefully.

When I became a parent I was nervous for the aspect of how expensive having a baby was going to be. Buying baby clothes month after month. Buying baby food and diapers week after week. There is just no end to spending large amounts of money every week. I need these items but wow, are they expensive! Is there a way around all the expenses? Well, in a way, yes! There will always be the weekly/monthly expenses but there is a way to cut some off the cost of certain necessary items.

When it came to buying diapers I was buying a cheaper brand. I had always heard that they were a good brand and good quality for the price so I went ahead and bought them. I found though that with using coupons, I could get awesome name brand diapers for way cheaper than the off brand. With coupons I never pay more than $5 for a package (not box) of diapers. Where as before I was paying around $7 per package. It is always good to keep an eye out for high value coupons for a good stock up price. A few weeks ago there was a coupon, $4 off Huggies diapers. Stock up price! Wipes are a great thing to stock up on when there is a good coupon available. Remember to always check prices of other stores and price match at Walmart for even more savings.

Baby Food

With baby food I have been able to stock up on a lot. Coupons are a great help with stocking up on baby food. Even if your baby isn't eating baby food yet, stock up! Beechnut baby food always has great coupons out. I am able to get great brand baby food for cheaper than an off brand. With baby formula, it's a bit tricky to find good coupons. The past few weeks there has been a $2 off coupon on the brand of formula I use. Not a high value coupon but every dollar off is a dollar saved. A good way to get high value coupons for formula is to sign up on the brand's website and they will send you coupons in the mail. I signed up on Enfamil's website and was sent 2 $5 off coupons! Worth it for sure.

Baby Clothes

My baby clothes haul! I saved over $150 all of this!

When it comes to buying baby clothes, I suggest the strategy of buying clothes now for next year. In the springtime, winter clothes go on sale for great prices. I went on a baby clothes shopping spree last month and found wonderful deals on winter clothes. I found shirts, sweaters, heavy pants, all great brands and quality, ranging in the prices of $4-$6 each. Remember to buy the sizes that they will fit into when winter comes around. Don't buy the sizes they fit into now. Also, during the spring/summer there are always great sales going on. Especially during holiday weekends. So, you don't always have to go to a second hand clothes store to find cheap clothes for your baby. There are sales and deals going on, you just have to keep an eye out for them and shop for the seasonal clothes that are on sale for next year.

Cute sunglasses! I paid only $2 for these with a Spring sale!
